A's v. Twins Recap

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The A's were riding a high..... only to have their hopes dashed on the rocks below after the wave crashed onto the beach. Quick hits to follow.

This was not good. After having that Angels series go so well, this was the exact opposite of good. One might actually describe it as "bad". Or even "very bad". The A's hosted the team with the second worst record in major league baseball, and lost both games. One was a heartbreaker that almost everyone saw coming as soon as Fuentes entered the game in the 10th. The other was over as soon as Tyson Ross exited the game after seven pitches with an apparent oblique strain. With Ross injured, the A's now begin 5th starter auditions. My money is either on Bobby Cramer, who started the season in the bullpen, or Josh Outman, who was a huge talent until he had to undergo the dreaded Tommy John surgery, but he still has some stuff.

Hopefully Ross isn't gone too long. Hopefully the bats wake up. Am I a broken record? Maybe. It seems that every time the A's go a step forward, they take another one back, and it is. just. the. worst.

Oh, also, just found out Brandon McCarthy also made the DL. Fantastic. Out 4 5 and 6 starters all gone. Time to cut your teeth Mr. Cramer and Mr. Outman. (Of course, that's not official yet. The A's called up Fautino De Los Santos, Jerry Blevins, and Joey Devine, who are all relievers. Still no starter there for Tuesday at Anaheim.)

When the dust settled, the A's are now at 22-22, and only 1 game back of the Rangers. Anything is possible.

Up next the A's begin a three game series across the bay with the Giants. It's gonna be big. If the A's can take two of three from the reigning world champs, maybe the bay will respect them. Maybe they'll keep winning. Maybe. Maybe.

Also, for you loyal readers, I am taking a trip to the East Coast for the next 11 days, so there is a chance you may not read my scintillating prose for a little while. But do not fret, Frankie will keep you company, and I may have some good stuff from my travels when I return. If you think of me, think of me doing this:
