Sharks Pull One Out of Their Collective Butts

The Sharks did the unthinkable last night. After going down 4-0 at the end of the first period, they scored five goals in the second, and then won it, 6-5 in overtime. Take a listen.... here's the highlights on the radio, it's pretty amazing.

I really would have loved to be in that locker room after the first. I'm willing to bet that Coach McClellan sounded something like this:

To put this in perspective, this is only the fourth time in Stanley Cup Playoff history that a team has come back from a deficit of four goals or more. That's incredible. After the big letdown in game 2, the Sharks needed this game to right the ship, and swing the home ice advantage back in their favor. The greatest thing about this game: the Sharks stars played like stars. Marleau, Couture, Clowe (who I personally love) Thornton, and the rest of the gang, after falling behind so early, bailed the team out.

I think this changes the feeling of the series. It's going to be rough for the Kings to rebound from that defeat, and the Sharks are back to being the big fish in the pond. They know they can throw their collective muscle around, and that the Kings will bend to their mighty will. Niemi had a rough game, but he had a fantastic season, and he'll bounce back fine. If he for whatever reason does not, then I am very comfortable with Niittymaki between the posts as well.

No matter what the rest of this series is gonna be a good time. Go Sharks!
